COnfiguring and using NTP is simple. See here for instructions:

I suggest using three external time sources. Excellent ones can be found in the pool:
http://www.ntppool.org/
Once you establish NTP, use 'ntpq' to confirm its functionality.

To verify the ntp server configuration (and its association with peer NTP servers) by executing the following command:
ntpq -p

Note on NTP, NTP will not large time differences between NTP server and HP-UX server. If the difference is more than an hour or so, you may need to make a manual adjustment to the time.
Try to avoid a backward time adjustment to a working system. That is a 100% sure way to crash many applications, for example an Oracle database.
