Re: CHKDSK - log ?

The boot sequence is logged in /etc/rc.log, syslog (/var/adm/syslog/syslog.log) and in the dmesg buffer.

Also look in

/etc/shutdownlog
/var/adm/syslog/OLDsyslog.log
/var/tombstones/ts99 and compare to older files.

Re: CHKDSK - log ?

thank for answer ,
my real problem is : a customer turned off a computer with the power off button and dont admit it , the alim block is down and i changed it
at the restart , the server checked something like chkdsk on windows when it dont turn off corectly.
i need to proof he did that , because the cost of the alim block is really expensive .

Re: CHKDSK - log ?

Mathieu,

In that case, I think the only sign would be the absence of an entry in /etc/shutdownlog. If it's a normal shutdown, it's logged, in the case of a powerfail (or turning off the switch), nothing would be logged.

That's not exactly very convincing proof, but you might be able to convince him never to do it again if you tell him you "know" what he did.
