CIFS 64bit

Does anyone know whether HPUX release a any 64bit CIFS server? or just 32bit?

Re: CIFS 64bit

Isn't this version already 64bit:

http://software.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=B8725AA

It runs on HPUX11i, which is 64bit all the way.

Re: CIFS 64bit

The depot that Kurt links is a 32/64 bit depot. It will run in 32 bit mode on 11i 32 bit installations and 64 bit mode on 11i 64 bit 11i.

11i does run on 32 bit machines. I'm running it on one.

Re: CIFS 64bit

HP CIFS Server 2.2j (and 3.0 TP) is compiled for 64 bit, but it is not instrumented for 64 bit. It's the same code.

Re: CIFS 64bit

Hi All,

Thanks for the reply. We're running the CIFS Server (ver A.01.06) in 32bit mode in HPUX11 64bit, recently i just figure out that the CIFS got limitation on 256 open files and we knew the only way to resolve this is to use 64bit CIFS/Samba OR Samba 3.0. I did search around on the HPUX CIFS documentation but it didn't tell me whether the depot is compile in 64bit or 32bit. Where can i find these information on HPUX site?

Re: CIFS 64bit

Both the Admin Guide (page 25) and the Release Notes (pg 22) discuss the memory requirements for 11.0/11.11 32-bit and 64-bit, and 11.23 64-bit. So that implies the availability of 64-bit, but not explicitly. Do you feel that this needs a separate topic? I'll be happy to enter a JAG (defect report) if you do.

Aside from that, you should really get off of A.01.06 (Samba 2.0.7, as I recall).

Re: CIFS 64bit

Yes, perhaps is best HP should point out the application bit instead of OS bit only.
