cifs 9000 and windows server

I am going to connect a hp-ux 11.00 client to a network of windows machines. I will install cifs9000 client on the hp-ux client. Have I to install something else on the windows side?
thanks in advance

Hi,

You shouldn't have to install any software on the Windows side, which is part of the real beauty of CIFS/9000/Samba. If you configure your HP-UX box for sharing disk and/or printers, they should be available to the Windows boxes using regular Windows protocol.

What I want to do is mounting windows folders on my hp-ux client. I have to install somethig to manage cifs on the windows server?

In some circumstances, in order to let Microsfot login scripts map drives directly to your HP-UX CIFS/9000 share, you might have to have the Microsoft administrator set up "accounts" for the HP-UX machines.

Certainly you can have users search the network for the hostname of the hp box and manually map the drive, but that gets tedious and generates help desk calls when you have 200 users, like we do.
