CIFS/9000 help
We have a two node HP_UX cluster with 4 packages. There is one package that has a filesystem that needs to be shared on Windows clients. I start/stop samba within the one package. The interface is the package IP. I had no problems. Now I need to add another share from a second package with a different interface (second package IP). Can anyone let me know how this could be done..CIFS/9000 A.01.07 is installed on both nodes..

Re: CIFS/9000 help
You can't run 2 instances of samba on same server.
You could however, in the globals section of smb.conf, add the ip's to "interfaces" and set "bind interfaces only = Yes".
That being said, if the file system and ip goes away (say you halt package 2), then your users won't be able to connect - browsing will say it's available - but won't be accessable...

Re: CIFS/9000 help
How about creating a package for samba?? In any case, the shares will be accessed with two different ips from Windows.

Re: CIFS/9000 help
As an aside, CIFS A.01.07 is a very old version, and has security issues. The latest version is available from http://software.hp.com and you'll find release notes and other useful docs at http://docs.hp.com
