CIFS/9000 Server and windows printer drivers
Hi all,
I have a Samba (2.2.8a based HP CIFS Server A.01.10) server. I am trying to install the Windows printer drivers (for 98/ME/NT4/W2K) on this server. From the manual ("Configuring Print Services for CIFS/9000 Version A.01.08") it seems that you can upload the printer drivers from a client, but this procedure didn't work for me.
What I've done:
added these lines to smb.conf file:
[printers]
path=/tmp
printable = yes
browseable = no
[print$]
path = /etc/opt/samba/printers
guest ok = yes
browseable = yes
read only = no
write list = root, enrico
plus a "printer admin = root enrico" voice under the [global] section.
Created two directories:
/etc/opt/samba/printers/W32X86
/etc/opt/samba/printers/Win40
where "root" and "enrico" can write.
Unfortunately from win98 or w2k I wasn't able to upload the drivers on the server.
Can someone point me in the right direction to copy on the server the correct files in the correct location, therough "client upload" or even by hand ?
Thank you
Enrico
