CIFS A.01.11.03: smbclient 'get' without size output

Hi,

after upgrading my HP-Servers (all 11.0) zu CIFS Version 1.11.03 I do not get any size info when fetching files:
smbclient //server/share
smb: \> cd subdir
smb: \subdir\> get file.xx
getting file \subdir\file.xx of size 0 as file.xx (663.0 kb/s) (average 663.0 kb/s)

The file however is transferred correctly - only the size information is missing. Because I used this info for reporting and comparing my skript missed...

I tried out several Samba-Versions on other systems (Linux, IRIX,..)and found, that starting with Samba2.2.8 this (mis-)behaviour happens here at my site.

My questions:
- is there a CIFS resolution possible (smb.conf ..., patch)?
- is this misfeature seen in other networks as well (as it might be a WIN$-share issue)?
- I do not have Samba3.x versions here at my site. Could anyone check, if this works with this version?
- Same for possible existing CIFS versions based on Samba3.x ...
