CIFS directory change on NFS mount

Hello,
On one of my cifs servers (2.2.12) I have timeout problems when changeing the directory all 3 directorys (I can change in exploer two times fast and then at the third the hourglass comes - next two are fast one slow and so on).
the data is stored on a NFS mount. If I change on unix there are no delays.
Have copied the data to an other server local and there are no delays.

Has anyone seen this bevore?? or is there a setting (NFS or cifs)?
thanks in advance.
mfg Erich

Re: CIFS directory change on NFS mount

You have a CIFS server serving up an NFS mounted filesystem?

Re: CIFS directory change on NFS mount

I have NFS exported filesystems - also setup as CIFS shares. I have never seen timeout issue in CIFS...

Are you using HP's Cifs server or self compiled?

Re: CIFS directory change on NFS mount

Hello,
Yes I am serving from an NFS mount (netapp unix share - its possible to server SMB with a netapp, but it needs an extra Driveletter for that little konfiguration files).

I'm using the HP product B8725AA A.01.11.04 HP CIFS Server.

Re: CIFS directory change on NFS mount

Ah - serving from Netapp...

My setup is serving locally - but the file system is also NFS exported from the server - not on a "remote" NFS share....IE - via another server or as in your case - a Netapp...

Only thing I can suggest - make the leap to Samba 3 - A.02.01.01 (3.0b) - from HP of course:
