Cifs Mount Works but CIFS Login Does Not Work

CIFs mount works
mount -F cifs acsnotes.acsatlanta.internal://data /mnt/data
# cifslist
=========================================================================
server acsnotes.acsatlanta.internal:
=========================================================================
No users currently logged in.

Share: \\ACSNOTES.ACSATLANTA.INTERNAL\\DATA
rw /mnt/data
but cifs login gives the following error

# cifslogin acsnotes.acsatlanta.internal ACS_DOMAIN\\subversion -P subversion
Logging in User: DOS: Access denied

Check permissions on the directory. Make sure its compatible with the users that are trying to log in.

What is the smb.conf options?

What does the samba log say?

thanks I had to configure pam.conf
and it worked after that
