CIFS on 11.00

Hi,

The product B8725AA (CIFS-server) exists in 2 versions; one for hp-ux 11.00 and one for hp-ux 11.11. The difference is the size of the .depot file (14 and 45 MB) and the version of Samba 2.2.12 and 3.0.x.
Can I install the version for hp-ux 11.11 on a hp-ux 11.00 system If yes, I will have the latest version (3.0.x) ?

Hi Dirk,

I'm afraid the only supported version of CIFS for HP-UX 11.00 is the version based on Samba 2.2l. The CIFS version based on Samba 3.0.x is only available for 11i, I don't believe this situation will change as HP-UX 11.00's end of support date is approaching.

If you really want to run the newer version then you will need to download an open-source Samba release - this won't be supported by HP however.
