CIFS: Service lost when PDC fails
Hi,
I have a problem with a CIFS server (in an MC/ServiceGuard environment) and using BDCs. It is currently setup, in smb.conf, like following:
password server = domainpdc domainbdc1 domainbdc2
Everything works fine as long as domainpdc is up, however if we shutdown the pdc, then the CIFS servers do not failover to the BDC, and stop serving the clients. Rejoining the server to the domain (with 'net ads join') completed successfully, but still did not work properly with the clients.
Apologies if this is lacking technical depth, I am unable to go on the internet at work - so this is all from memory. Anything that anyone can suggest will be greatly appreciated.

Re: CIFS: Service lost when PDC fails
Shalom,
/opt/samba/bin/net join -w NDR-IL -S ildc1 -U poweruser
poweruser is a windows user with partial or full admin priviledges to join the domain.
I suspect the real problem is the secondary domain servers are not working or configured properly.

Re: CIFS: Service lost when PDC fails
Thanks for the reply, however the secondary domain controllers are working fine with the windows clients, just not the CIFS ones.
I suppose I should have said that the domain controllers are Win2003.
I've used 'net ads join' already, and everything works fine as long as the PDC is up and running.
