CIFS upgrade

Hi all,

I need to upgrade CIFS on some 11.00 servers. I am running an old version. Now, the new version has this pre-requisite :
KRB5-Client.KRB5-SHLIB,r>=B.11.00.%
Problems begin here. This Kerberos5 package is only available for 11i on software.hp.com. Now where can I find this ? I've checked on CDs, and on some indications from SEP, but no way to find it.

I opened a thread monday about this problem and closed it as I didn't found the package and went for downgrade. As I really need to upgrade I open this one with better explanations. Original thread with SEP advices is here :

...production system... Don't you think it might break anything ? I will try on a little test machine I have here but I don't have the same CIFS usage load as on prod, so I can not get a conclusion.

I might have led you down the path Fred.

I assumed that HP ported Kerobos 5 to 11.00.

That assumption may be false. I'd verify that with a software call and then decide on this alternative:

http://hpux.connect.org.uk/hppd/hpux/Development/Tools/heimdal-0.3f/

It says its a free implementation of Kerebos 5. It says there is an 11.00 version.

Maybe it will work.

I send an e-mail to software.hp.com to see but I don't have any answer yet.

I find it very strange they rely on a software they didn't port. What do you think of Geoff's idea to try an install on my 11.00 boxes ?

I'm going to give a try to heimdal. I've tried to install CIFS client bypassing the pre-requisites, and it told that shared libs where missing (but I didn't kept trace of it). I hope heimdal implements the same interface/libs.

Product number J5849AA for 11.00 has the latest KRB5 Client software.

Scot, You are right !
SEP already gave me that link and all I saw was that it requires Kerberos5 Client. But that was for 11i. I didn't saw that the package for 11.0 includes Kerberos5 client.
