cifsclient and dfs share: no autologin?
i have the following setup:
windows share:
dfs server: dfssrv, windows server 2003
fileserver: fsrv, windows server 2003
dfs root: #fsrv (name starts with an #)
share X beneath dfs root points to share X on server fsrv
Unix:
HP-UX 11.23/IA64
cifsclient A.02.02.01
cifsclient.cfg standard + lookupTryNetbios = no + smbOverTcp = yes
authentication: ntlm (standard)
cifslist:
\\DFSSRV\#FSRV /var/mnt/fsrv MS
--------------------------------
FSRV root user S
DFSSRV root user LS
Mounting the dfs root works.
Listing the share works somehow:
ll /var/mnt/fsrv
/var/mnt/fsrv/X not found
The name of the shares are found (IPC$ works) but login to fsrv does not work (automatically).
When I now login manually:
cifslogin -N -U user fsrv
I can access the files on the share.
Shouldn't the login to the second server work automatically too?
Or am I missing something?
best regards,
Thomas

Re: cifsclient and dfs share: no autologin?
This manual describes how to automount cifs/samba shares.
http://docs.hp.com/en/B8724-90068/B8724-90068.pdf
Note that your cifsclient may not be up to date enough to accomplish this. See http://software.hp.com and search for cifs/900 to find an up to date client depot.
Note CIFS clients swinstall does not require the old client to be removed but it does require a boot.

Re: cifsclient and dfs share: no autologin?
automount works.
I want to automatically access the share X, beneath the mount point. That works only, if I login via cifslogin but not automatically.
best regards,
Thomas

Re: cifsclient and dfs share: no autologin?
according to our HP contact, this is a (known) bug with ntlm authentication in cifsclient. Currently there is no fix available.
As a Workaround you can either script the login (as above) or use kerberos authentication.

Thomas
