cifsclient - can't installing software from a Windows 2000 mount
Hi everyone,
I am using CIFS/9000 client on HPUX 11.0, and have successfully created a share on a Win 2000 Professional PC. I can read, and write to this, but when I try to swinstall a depot kept on the cifs mount, swinstall manages to contact the target, but hangs at "reading the software source" Is installing from a cifs mount possible? I only have limited disk space :(
Thanks for any ideas :)

Hello cxtwo,
IIRC then you are having file-and-record-locking problems there...
Try to use the depot as a singel file (i.e. a tar-archive) and use it as a "tape-depot".
Then it should be working.
HTH,
Wodisch

Hi Wodisch,
Thanks for the reply, but I'm afraid I don't know how to do this - I've tried choosing 'Local Tape' and typing in the path to the .depot file, but it still hangs at 'reading the software source' Please could you tell me how to use the .depot file as a tar file?
Thanks,
cxtwo
