Class C address on entria xterm

Hi

I'm trying to use class C ip address on entria II xterm. It is not working. Class A IP address is working on the same xterm.
If I try to use the same class C IP address on my laptop it works.

Any idea why?

Thanks

How does it not work? What is it doing or not doing? Do you have the subnet mask set correctly? Do you have the default route set correctly?

Does the machine you are booting the xterm from recognize that address?

Thaks Patrick.

The subnet is correct. I do not have default gateway defined.
I can not ping that IP address from other system on same subnet.

Re: Class C address on entria xterm

1.does your connecting host located in the same subnet.
2.I had the similar problem what implementation of firewall. Try to connect the Entria direct to the host (server).
There can be intermeidate switches/hub settings problems.
3.Sometimes time out period may cause problems.

How ever you would be able to ping the connecting host some how.

To get out of a difficulty, one usually must go through it

Re: Class C address on entria xterm

My best guess is that you have missed one of the required changes in the Entria II's bootptab, dhcpd.conf, or dhcptab depending upon which DHCP/BOOTP daemon you are using.
The other thing might be that you made the changes to the file but did not bounce the daemon so that the changes were never recogized.

My Entria II's work just fine with a Class A or Class C address.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.
