Closed Cases will be removed from ITRC Software Call Manager

Hello Everyone,

As of May 1, 2002, all closed cases created on or before June 1, 2001, will be removed from the IT Resource Center's Software Call Manager. If you need any information from these closed cases, please save them before May 1, 2002.

Thanks for your notification. Good maintanance is important. After removal, we've always a change to find it again using Google's cache :)

Hi Martin,

I think that it's better to remove all the open cases vs closed cases, this is because if the case is closed there are a solution, if not it's not util when you search for a solution, then if the case it's one month old and it's not closed it's not util. I think that there are a lot of issues whitout solution because the people don't close it.

This is only my opinion.

how do you define a closed call I have not seen any functinality to allow me to close any calls I have raised ?

Will this mean any calls opened before the magic date will be purged regardless ?

Hello everyone,

I see some clarification is needed. This is just a notification that software calls accessed via the Software Call Manager (in other words people with official HP support contracts that open a call with HP support) that have been closed (i.e. customer and HP agreed to close the case) prior to June 2001 will no longer be available via the ITRC.

I have no control over this. It is simply a notification that it is going to happen. So if you have an HP Support Contract and you want to keep a copy of your closed cases prior to June 2001, go to the Software Call Manager and print them out or copy them for your records.

Just a comment to Martins clarification. The calls logged in Software Call Manager are actually handeled by the Respose Center in another system. When customer and the RC engineer agreas to close the call that is done by the RC engineer.
These calls are loged to a valid support contract and has nothing to do with the "forum calls".
I belive that when the closed cases prior to June 2001, are made unavailable that will improve performancce on that lookup.

Thanks for the note. Until I saw it, I didn't even know that I could see the call notes. Must say that it's handy to be able to go back and see what tech support told you if you didn't write it all down.
