Re: cluster file system

A cluster filesystem appears to be a local filesystem and behaves exactly like a local filesystem but is mounted locally on multiple hosts. Normally this is a recipe for disaster because Server B will have no knowledhe of the contents of Server A's buffer cache and chaos is the result. CFS addresses this buffer cache consistancy by using a network link. CFS allows multiple hosts to have read-write access to the same filesystem without using NFS.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: cluster file system

Shalom,

A cluster filesystem is designed to permit some kind of simultaneous or shared access from more than one system at a time.

It is supposed to facilitate two systems mounting the filesystem and being able to write data at the same time.

Commonly a shared database to be openned by two systems would be placed here.

What features you get depend on what cluster filesystem you purchase and install.
