Cluster Interconnect for Oracle RAC 2 nodes

I was checking the network utilization on the interfaces used for RAC interconnect, and the Incoming data and Out data of the interfaces on both nodes is giving around 12-20MBytes. Is this much bandwidth goes through the interconnect, cause as to my knowledge this interconnect is for Hearthbeath and send ICMP mesages which must be in bytes or Kbytes.

Re: Cluster Interconnect for Oracle RAC 2 nodes

Hi,

Oracle RAC cluster interconnect is used for CACHE FUSION also ,ie SGA (node1) - SGA(node2) communication.

It is recommended to have minimum 1 Gbs cluster interconnect for better Cache fusion.

Re: Cluster Interconnect for Oracle RAC 2 nodes

I have 1Gbps switch and NICs for the interconnect, my concerns are, when i run Glance, i check NIC by physical interface and check input and output packets, i saw number of packets going in and out are like 4000 and more per second. In MBytes , i see like 12MB per sec , is this normal and is this because of cach fusion oracle do.

Re: Cluster Interconnect for Oracle RAC 2 nodes

It appears to me like normal and the reason for this as I said earlier Oracle Cache Fusion.
