Cluster on hpux11i

Hi I am receiving the following error on the cluster: "failed to get new net cluster for received packet".

what could be the reason for such an error. I have tried to look in the cluster books but havent got any clue.

1) Where are you seeing this error - its not in any of the logs you posted?

2) Are you sure thats the *exact* syntax of the error. It's not actually:

"failed to get new net buffer for received packet"

is it?

Re: Cluster on hpux11i

Shalom,

Critical message:

ERROR: Function activate_volume_group
ERROR: Failed to activate vg02

You have a package that needs to activate vg02 in order to have disk to work with or a filesystem to mount. Its not happening.

I suspect some kind of change in the SAN environment, since the volume group appears to be shared on a SAN.

that is where I'd start my investigation.

Re: Cluster on hpux11i

SEP,

Please take the time to look at this a little closer. Th errors you were referring to were dated Nov 7 (presumably 2006 unless someone is playing with dates on this system!) And it can be seen further down in the log that this problem has been fixed.

Re: Cluster on hpux11i

The error is displayed on the console.
When the system is powered on, it start showing the following:
"failed to get new net buffer for received packet"

then when the network service passes it then changes to:
"failed to get new net cluster for received packet"

Re: Cluster on hpux11i

OK then that error is generally seen on older MP firmware releases. You don't say what sort of server this is occurring on, but the fix should be to update the MP firmware.

The good news is it has nothing to do with your Serviceguard cluster.

Re: Cluster on hpux11i

The solution was not harmful for the system.
Thank you!
