Re: Clustering
You may use either LVM or VxVM to configure storage devices for use with data.
If you do not need raw volume access, then basic Serviceguard will be sufficient for your needs.
Be advised that there are several flavors of Serviceguard, tailored to your needs. Start here:
http://h71028.www7.hp.com/enterprise/cache/6469-0-0-0-121.html
Look at the High Availability options:
» HP-UX 11i
» HP-UX 11i - HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite
» Linux
If you have access to the HP document database in the ITRC, investigate emr_na-c00937283-3 which reviews the various bundles in SG-SMS.
If you decide that basic Serviceguard is sufficient, you need to create volume groups and logical volumes on the shared array, and 'vgimport' them into the other server.
Then you can create a SG cluster and application-oriented packages. The package can be application specific (read the manual) and you can also use the Enterprise Cluster Master toolkit
http://h71028.www7.hp.com/enterprise/cache/314511-0-0-225-121.html?jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN
that contains package implementation files for Oracle-specific packages.
