cmapplyconf while cluster is running

I want to know if I can do a cmapplyconf on my running ServiceGuard 11.08 cluster. All I want to do is add a volume group to the cluster config file, and then add it to a package script. I found a document in Knowledge Base that said this could be done with version 10.10, but what is the case for 11.08?

I've already created the vg and some lvols in it, and ran vgchange -c /dev/vg02. I can activate it on one node and then then the other, exclusively. So all that is left is to change the cluster definition, and I don't feel like waiting for the weekend just to stop the cluster to make this config change.

Can anyone help me out?

Hi Jim,

Yes, you should be able to add a VG, try running cmcheckconf. It will fail if you try to do something that's not allowed while the cluster is running.

You can do it online unless the VG contains the lock disk PV ( but that's not your case). It makes sense since you can add even a new package on-line and usally a package contains a VG.

Please refer to UXSGKBAN00000035 - it discusses online cluster configuration changes (and what cannot be changed while the cluster is up).
As for your issue of adding a VG to the cluster, look at UXSGLVKBAN00000012
