After running the cmcheckconf command from my previous post, I noticed the following messages in syslog:
Oct 30 11:31:39 houhpp01 cmclconfd[16013]: Failed to release volume group /dev/vgora42b02
Oct 30 11:31:39 houhpp01 cmclconfd[16013]: Failed to release volume group /dev/vgora42c02
Oct 30 11:31:40 houhpp01 cmclconfd[16013]: Failed to release volume group /dev/vgora42d02
Oct 30 11:31:42 houhpp01 cmclconfd[16013]: Failed to release volume group /dev/vgora48base
Oct 30 11:31:43 houhpp01 cmclconfd[16013]: Failed to release volume group /dev/vgora48b01
Oct 30 11:31:43 houhpp01 cmclconfd[16013]: Failed to release volume group /dev/vgora48c01
Oct 30 11:31:44 houhpp01 cmclconfd[16013]: Failed to release volume group /dev/vgora48d01
Oct 30 11:31:44 houhpp01 cmclconfd[16013]: Unable to setup the volume group id for /dev/vgora48a02: File exists
Oct 30 11:31:44 houhpp01 cmclconfd[16013]: Unable to setup the volume group id for /dev/vgora48b02: File exists
Oct 30 11:31:44 houhpp01 cmclconfd[16013]: Unable to setup the volume group id for /dev/vgora48c02: File exists
Oct 30 11:31:44 houhpp01 cmclconfd[16013]: Unable to setup the volume group id for /dev/vgora48d02: File exists
The "Failed to release volume group" I suspect is fixed in the latest ServiceGuard patch that was just announced, but does anyone know where the "Unable to setup the volume group id..." message comes from? Would the same patch fix this as well?

Re: cmcheckconf - Unable to setup the vgid...
Suggest you do a custome patch analysis of your system. You may find you are missing some other patch down the line and that won't be good.

Re: cmcheckconf - Unable to setup the vgid...
It is a good idea to install at least the recommended patches. you may install the other latest patches at your discretion. Also this is the time to remove some patches recalled by HP. I had six of those patches when i last did the patching on one of my box.
hope this helps.
