cmhaltserv and cmrunserv

Hi

I trying to restart a service after I halted it by cmhaltserv , which terminates the process but in cmviewcl -v I find the service status "up" .

If I run cmrunserv -R < path of script>

It give me error .it is already active .

Re: cmhaltserv and cmrunserv

Correct me if I'm wrong.. I thought cmrunserv and cmhaltserv must not be run individually ? They are called from the cmhaltpkg script.

Re: cmhaltserv and cmrunserv

Hi Vaibhav,

You are having problems because, cmhaltserv and cmrunserv are script-only commands. These commands were never intended to be used at the shell level and MC/SG does not support this feature.

You have to try the package commands ( cmhaltpkg )

Hi,

Check this document. This will describe about MC/SG command which you cannot use and the reasons:

Re: cmhaltserv and cmrunserv

SK is correct, those commands should only be called by run script.

Re: cmhaltserv and cmrunserv

Do you mean to say , If I have a Monitoring Script which I want to shutdown for some reason , I can not do it with cmhaltserv and cmrunserv . It seems cmhaltserv stops this sevice on command line .

Re: cmhaltserv and cmrunserv

The cmrunserv and cmhaltserv commands are NOT supposed to nbe run from the command line, and if you do so you are running the risk (as you have seen) of unpredictable results.
These commands are only for use within the package scripts.

Now that the others have given answers, wouldnt it be nice if you try improving your 5 out of 53 points assignment record?
