codewords

Hi,

I have a new HPUX server come with pre-installed OS with MirrorDisk, OnlineJFS and MC service guards software as I have purchased them all together.

I just wondering do I still need to apply for the Codeword and put them manually in the /var/adm/sw/.codewords file.

Re: codewords

No I don't think that this is necessary.

You might like to get the licensing sorted out with HP in terms of which server they belong to.

I've had this where you buy software with a server and when you come to transferring liecences to other servers nobody has any idea that you own it.

Re: codewords

The .codewords file is used by the 'swinstall'
program that makes references to your application CD set. If the server has already been installed, you would need to only apply this if you had to go an reinstall one of the products. A good way to test this, would be to add the codeword from within the swinstall program, to see if it unlocks the previously installed software without actually loading anything.

So, in order to answer your question, no you don't need to manually edit this file.

Cheers
