Cold install a system that is currently an Ignite server

I have a system that I am going to cold install a new OS to (well, actually clone it from an Ignite tape). It is currently an Ignite server with net archives for several systems. The archives and clients are mounted to logical volumes in vg01 so they will not get overwritten by the cold install. Of course, a newer version of Ignite will be installed.

Are there any Ignite configuration files that I should keep a copy or anything else that I should do so that my Ignite server will be functional again and I can access the existing net archives?

Thanks,
Marlou

Hi,

I will prefer to go ahead with the updateux rather a cold install .this will preserve your config automatically.

Re: Cold install a system that is currently an Ignite server

The production system is an old K-box with 11.00 that I am upgrading to 11.11. I keep reading to avoid updateux. I cold installed 11.11 to my test K-box and have spent a couple weeks getting it set up just how I want it. I've put copies of the custom files from the production on the test box, so they will be ready to move into place. I even created a new Ignite tape and re-ignited to test the process and find out how long it would take. Doing it this way should save me a lot of time when I ignite the production system. Figuring out how I want to handle the Ignite Server is my last step.

My cold install from the Ignite tape was successful with no problems at all. Since I had separate clients and recovery/archives mount points, the Ignite server functioned just fine after the cold install.
