Cold Install HPUX 11.23 on PA-RISC

Hi Guys, I've been trying to do a cold-install an 11.23 version to my HP9000 machine, but I can't find a way to get it boot using the DVD drive. On the instructions manual it uses the EFI interface which is, as of my knowledge, available to the Itanium servers.

Question is, how do you do a cold-install on the PA-RISC server using the 11.23 installers?

The instruction manual you're reading is probably this one, the "HP-UX 11i v2 Installation and Update Guide":

You're probably reading the Chapter 5, Task 1: "Booting your machine" on page 92. If so, simply look at the next page.

On page 93, there's "Booting Your HP 9000 System", which is what you want with a PA-RISC machine.

After you insert the DVD into the drive stop the autoboot and the boot console menu should be displayed.

search for bootable devices with sea from your main menu.
Under device type you should see your cd/dvd drive (usually a scsi device path). boot from that drive with boot p# (whatever path number your dvd drive is)
at interact with IPL press n and wait for the install kernel to load.
