I am able to boot to cdrom. And want to do an advanced install.
I want to stipulate my own file sizes as well as configure the host name and ip address.
This is all fine and I hit the go buttom for install, then the fun begins...
The install works fine, prompts me for the support Plus Cd, then does a reboot.
It then start the boot to primary boot disk and starts the checks, (checks that I dont want installed it hangs [wait\busy]!! This is driving me crazy!
It stops at NFS client, Mail daemon, SNMP HP-UNIX Network Management Subagent, NFS Server, and Intializing Software Sistributor agaent daemon! [fail] on the last one.
I then finally get the root console, I can log in, it does not go to the Support plus cd, I do not get prompted on software that I do not want! It then crashes and goes to a black screen.
What the heck an I missing!!!
Solved! Go to Solution.

Re: cold install of HP 11.00 errors
All those things that are failing require a successfully configured network. Did you configure the network during the initial install?

SolutionConfigure the network.
If you think you have, post up /etc/rc.config.d/netconf

Re: cold install of HP 11.00 errors
That's fine, you can use a temporary ip address - it just has to be valid and resolvable. Make sure, if DNS is involved, that the name/ip combination is defined to DNS. If there's no DNS, then make sure it gets set up in /etc/hosts.

Re: cold install of HP 11.00 errors
I know I can modfiy the /etc/rc.config.d/nfsconf file to stop the NFS but what about the rest... How do I get a normal boot. I can not even get to the CDE login screen. I get a crash...
Question, does the support plus cd happen behind the scenes, I was never prompted for additional information after I put the cd in.

Re: cold install of HP 11.00 errors
It may be easier to install again.
