comp.sys.hp.hpux

Could anyone tell me the server address of the newsgroup of "comp.sys.hp.hpux"?
I must fill in this info in MS Outlook Express.
For example, the server address of Microsoft's products is "msnews.microsoft.com"!
Thanks a lot!

Is it not groups.google.com?

Re: comp.sys.hp.hpux

Sivakumar seems to be correct. But can you directly specify news.mit.edu as the NNTP server and subscribe to it's news groups?. I am not sure.

My understanding is that you need to have your own News Server and get feeds from the others.

I could be wrong. Not a news guy.

Re: comp.sys.hp.hpux

Thank you all!
I make a test, news.mit.edu seems to be correct! I can connect to news.mit.edu but I got an error message:
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
502 senator-bedfellow.mit.edu: Access denied to your node - usenet@mit.edu

Confuguration:
account: news.mit.edu
server: news.mit.edu
protocol: NNTP
port: 119
security(SSL): 0
error id: 502
code: 800ccca0
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Do I need an account for it? How to get the account?

Sounds like you may have some issues on your end. My shop totally bocks newsgroups.

Re: comp.sys.hp.hpux

USENET (or newsgroups) requires a server that will not only display but accept any messages you want to post. Normally, your company would setup a local server which gets a feed from an outside source. Without local support, you need to find a server that is willing to allow you to connect as a subscriber. I would search Google for a free newsgroup server.

Re: comp.sys.hp.hpux

As others have mentioned, you either need 1) a News server within your company/organization, i.e. on *your* *intranet*, not on the Internet, or 2) an ISP (Internet Service Provider) which also offers a News server (but as mentioned, most *intranets* will block *News* (NNTP) traffic from/to the Internet) or 3) use Google Groups with a *web-browser* instead of a *newsreader*: http://groups.google.com/groups?group=comp.sys.hp.hpux

[The Microsoft groups 'happen' to work, because they are not *Usenet* Newsgroups, but *Microsoft* Newsgroups.]
