I'm trying to compile ISC Bind 9.2.4. But I only have a C compiler on a 10.20 machine, the systems I need bind to run are 11. How do I build a binary for HP-UX 11 on a HP-UX 10 machine?
The silly thing is I did this about 18 months ago (for bind 9.2.2) but I just CANNOT for the life of me remember how I did it. Searched in my notes but couldn't find any record of it!!
Thanks!

Solution
You can't. But it doesn't matter, because 99.6 % of the builds created on 10.20 run fine on 11.00 and 11.11.
So 18 month ago, you probably did nothing special, and just moved over the binary to the new machine and it "just worked" (TM)
Enjoy, Have FUN! H.Merijn

Re: Compile for HP-UX 11 on HP-UX 10
Thanks! That explained why I couldn't find any notes of how I did it!
What confused me was that when I did:
> what named
named:
HP92453-02A.11.00 HP-UX SYMBOLIC DEBUGGER (END.O ILP32) $Revision: 75.02 $
And I thought I must have compiled for 11.00.
I simply did configure and make today for 9.2.4, and it says the same (11.00 HP-UX).

Re: Compile for HP-UX 11 on HP-UX 10
You may need to create a fully bound executable by using the option to archive the libraries. The shared libraries that are dynamically linked can vary from one release to the other.
