I have one server model rx2660 and it has 2 on board LAN cards. When i went to configure it thru SAM I find there Card Type = 1000BT and Autonegotaiation=ON but i have set it to Autonegoatiation=off ,speed=100 mbps and mode = Full duplex.
So i want to know that the settings that i have done ,will give good performance or not ? though i am getting the connectivity from outside of the server room.
If not then please suggest me the best way of setting and also, when and how we use autonegotiation ??

Re: Concept of LAN cards setting
1000MB cards must be set to auto. ( as well as the switch port it is connected to ).
100MB cards did not work well set to auto, those most people forced to 100FD on the card and at the switch.
So, for 1000MB cards leave the config alone, e.g. default to auto.

SolutionIf you want to use manual settings for some reason and if your network supports 1000 Mbps then you should set the speed to 1000Mbps.

Re: Concept of LAN cards setting
But if i would suffer any problem in future then i will definetly set the lAN card to Auto=ON ,so that it can adjust automatically because its a 1000BT card type.
At last
Many Thanks for your all replies.
