Configuration Menu in Serviceguard Manager

Hi,

I dont have access to the configuration menu in serviceguard manager logged on as root?

I believe we have serviceguard 11.16 and I have read about adding roles to determine access levels but I find the role tab but nowhere to create roles, I have no add facility?

Any idea's what I am doing wrong?

Re: Configuration Menu in Serviceguard Manager

Based upon version 11.16 you could be on several types of workstations. Windows? Linux? remote console? Console terminal? Also, what HP-UX version?

Is there an icon on your desktop?

Do you get any xterm display at all to your windows/-or-/linux PC? If PC and no xterm display then you need to set the display enviornment variable in .profile with your ip address.

export DISPLAY=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:0.0

Here's a doc on installation:

Hi,

Sorry forgot to say, we are running it on HP-UX 11.23! The application runs file but when I go to the configuration menu it is greyed out!

Re: Configuration Menu in Serviceguard Manager

Hi,

I think I am being silly, basically I want to change the ip addresses of 2 packages hosting a sap central instance and an oracle database. I have logged on as root but I guess I have to shutdown the cluster or package to have access to configure it?

If someone can confirm my thoughts that would be great but it makes sense to me!

Re: Configuration Menu in Serviceguard Manager

If you search on ip address in that above link it will take you through the steps of configuring a package's ip address.

If a specific action is not appropriate for a cluster object, it will be greyed out.

Re: Configuration Menu in Serviceguard Manager

Hi Chad,
Instead of using serviceguard manager you can manually edit the package control file,
.sh with the new ip address.
After changing the IP address you have to stop the cluster and apply the changes by running
cmapplyconf -P .ascii

Re: Configuration Menu in Serviceguard Manager

Yes - you must shut down the package before SGMGr will allow the IP to be changed.

I logged an enhancement request on SGMgr for this issue. SGMgr should tell users why features are greyed out, or not grey-out but rather prohibit a change and include a message advising how to enable to make the change.
