Configuration of IBM 6100 network IP printer

I don't know the option to use? I use the action add remote printer but it doen't work.Is it indispensable to put the printer on a JetDirect or could i configure It as it is directly one the network with IP adress 10.10.20.125?

The easiest way is to put it on jetdirect and configure it as a network printer

HP's JetDirect product is incompatible with any other vendor. So unless your 6100 printer is connected by a parallel cabel to an HP JetDirect external LAN adapter box, your printer is known as a "remote" printer, not a "network" printer (SAM terminology). This means that the printer is an lpd/lpr emulator and SAM will need 4 pieces of information:

host/server name: (IP address of the printer)
local printer queue name: (whatever you like)
remote printer name: (use correct name)
BSD printer: (always check yes)

The server name (the LAN card is essential a print server) will be 10.10.20.125 and the local queue is whatever you like, perhaps ibm6100. The remote printer name is tricky: it is a name stored inside the LAN card and must be obtained from the manufacturer's documentation. It might be called prn or lp or text or raw or something else. The lpr/lpd protocol is designed for BSD remote printing where there is a server and then one or more printers inside the server.
