Configuration print scheduler
Hello,
I have a problem when printing to a printer behind a firewall. The source port on the Unix server is below 1024, the firewall does not permit this. Is there a way to force Unix to choose a source port higher than 1023 when using tcp/ip port 515 (lpd / printer)...
Kind regards,
Patrick van der Ley

Re: Configuration print scheduler
No, the port number is hardcoded into the lp processes. You would have to create a custom program on both sides of the firewall to allow remote printing to take place.
An alternative might be to use mailx to send the printjob to a Unix box behind the firewall, then using a simple script, process the mail message into a print job.
