Configure HP5si

Hi,

I've a printer HP5si w/o a JetDirect card and I had configure it as a remote printer.
Currently the HP printer is sharing a print server with an Epson Dot Matrix.
When I do a test print to the HP printer, the output got printed out on the dot matrix instead.
Can anybody enlightened me on this. Do I need to insert the JetDirect card into the HP printer? Appreciate any advice.
Thanks.

Re: Configure HP5si

Hi,

If you are sharing a print server, you will
need to set up the second or subsequent port,
using the software for that type of print
server. What print server brand is it?

Hi Michael,

The print server brand is AXIS Communications.

Re: Configure HP5si

Is the Axis print server a multi-port device? If so, you'll need to find out from axis how to direct jobs to the other ports.

Re: Configure HP5si

telent to the printserver. If it follows the printer server defacto standard command set, you should be able to do a "show status" and a "show port" for each of the ports to which the printers are connected, and verify the setups. You should also be able to do a "show queue" to see the print queues. You need to specify the remote printer name to be the name of the printer queue on the printer server that is associated with the port to which the printer is attached.

Re: Configure HP5si

Hi,

Thanks for all the response. I've log into the Axis website (www.axis.com) for assistance as it also has an online technical forum.
From the informations gathered, I've reconfigured the printer and it works.
