-- Configure netwok card to 100 Mbps Full Duplex --

Hello,

Can someaone help me ?
I would like to know if my network card can support configuration change from 10Mbps Half Duplex to 100Mbps Full Duplex.
My network card :
# ioscan -fnClan

===================================================================
lan 0 8/16/6 lan2 CLAIMED INTERFACE Built-in LAN
/dev/diag/lan0 /dev/ether0 /dev/lan0

I have tried this command lanadmin -x 100FD 4

Hi,

What type of system do you have? What version of HP-UX are you running? Can you post the output of 'lanscan'? You might have a built-in LAN card that doesn't support 100 Mb.

A nic/network card can only support what it was built for. So you can't use a command to make a 10mb card into a 100mb.

But, you can purchase a new interface card. Check your server and see what kind of network cards it will support.

I would guess that this is a buil-in internal 10 BT lan card on a D370. As stated, it will only do 10 BT.

Also, your "lanadmin" syntax is wrong. "lanadmin -x" doesn't SET lan card settings, it SHOWS lan card settings. "lanadmin -X " sets card settings.

Re: -- Configure netwok card to 100 Mbps Full Duplex --

Our server is :
# model
9000/803/D320 with HP-UX 10.20

# lanscan
Hardware Station Crd Hardware Net-Interface NM MAC HP DLPI Mjr
Path Address In# State NameUnit State ID Type Support Num
8/16/6 0x080009D262F6 0 UP lan0 UP 4 ETHER Yes 52

I think our network card doesn't support a 100M FD configuration, but I wish to have a confirmation of that... before purchasing another network card.

Re: -- Configure netwok card to 100 Mbps Full Duplex --

If connected to a Cisco switch you might want to turn off auto negotiation.

If can cause conflicts and problem.

Have the Cisco admin hard code the switch port for the cards maximum settings.

Reboot your system.

lanadmin -x 0

If the setting don't match card max, hard code the setting in this file:

/etc/rc.config.d/hpbtlanconf
