I want alarm a readiness operator per modem-call.
# cu -l/dev/cul0p7 1315
Autodialing - please wait
Connect failed: Requested device/system name not known
Why do this not more funtion?

Solution
Hi,
You'll need to add an entry to /etc/uucp/Devices similar to:
ACU cul0p7 - 19200 hayes
Once you've done that you'll be able to use cu -lcul0p7 1315 and after a delay the modem will dial the number.
If you're using this to call an operator on their phone it may not do what you're expecting. The phone will ring, when answered you'll hear the modem trying to negotiate the connection.
