Connect with different IP

Is it possible in HPUX to connect to an ftp server and let my source IP address be different from my actual IP?

For example if I have a machine with ip 10.19.10.22, I want to ftp from another machine to a remote FTP server from machine 10.19.10.21 but appear to the machine as if am coming from 10.19.10.22.
THanks

Hi,

Well I could assume of having two IP's on the same server where one is not visible to anybody then you could achive this by routing to the ftp server using the hidden IP.

Re: Connect with different IP

Set up a virual ip address on the hp box 10.19.10.22

Then telnet or ssh to 10.19.10.22

Then ftp to the remore ftp server.

This may create the log entries you wish.

The real lan interface being used is still the original 10.19.10.21

I'm curious as to why you need to do this.

Good Luck,

Re: Connect with different IP

Thanks Guys,
Why I want to do it is a LOOOONG story, had some of my network guys do "something" on the network.

Basically I can no longer FTP to this one and only customer site because for some reason the IP address I am now using to connect to the FTP has changed from 10.19.10.22 to 10.19.10.20 (10.19.10.22 is a package IP 10.19.10.20 is the lan1 IP).

The customer firewall will only allow 10.19.10.22 and while the politics of getting them to accept 10.19.10.20 is going on and the network guys are figuring out what they did wrong am just wondering if I can get around this by connecting to the FTP with the same old IP⠦⠦⠦.
