connecting a floppy diskdrive in a HP9000/712

I bought myself a HP9000 for learning purposes (got UX 9 on it), now i have build in a floppy diskdrive, i am totaly new at these kind of machines.

But whatever i try i cannot mount to the floppy could anyone explain to me how you add the drive and make sure that the machine detects the drive at hardware level?

Any doc's maybe?
