Connecting tape drives to L2000

I need to connect HP A3716A Autoloader and C6364A standalone DDS-3 tape drives to my new L2000 for use with OmniBack II 3.10. Can someone please identify for me the correct interface card and cable to use. I have tried the A4800A card and cannot "see" the drive with "ioscan". Also, if you've been down this road already, could you please provide directions for setting up the changer mechanism device files on HP-UX 11.00 as they are not in the user manual (hardcopy or online version)

Re: Connecting tape drives to L2000

Hi,

As far as i remember, A3716A is a DDS3 autoloader, thus providing SCSI-2 connectors (as well as your standalone DDS3 tape drive).

A4800A is a F/W differential card (HVD), while your autoloader and your standalone DDS3 tape drive are single-ended/LVD. Therefore you can't see them through an ioscan.

So you need to connect your A3716A/C6364A to a A5149A (single port) or A5150A (dual port) SCSI controller, unless you have an LVD/SE connector already installed in your L2000 box.

Don't forget to order the right cable (VHDCI to SCSI-2) at the same time, as these controllers only provide VHDCI connectors...

Best regards,

Fred.

There is doc KBAN00000190 that details the steps involved
with configuring a tape drive in HPUX 10.x and 11.x - this
includes info regarding the picker and testing of the picker
