Connecting US Robotics Modem
I have to connect Modem US Robotic 56Kbps to my L2000 server. I have already configure device file by SAM. the device i got is /dev/ttyd0p2, and i configure by CA by giving the speed to 19200, CCITT mode, and also doing modem reset (MR), enabling auto answer by kermit.
I try to dial up to my modem using hyper terminal, can connect succesfully, but i didn't get the login prompt. i got only gerbage character.
I try to change my modem with DLINK remote access modem 56Kbps. And i didn't get any problem occurs.
Could you plese give me an advice how to configure the US Robotics modem. Let you know that my modem doesn't have DIP Switch.
thanks

Re: Connecting US Robotics Modem
If you have the USR moidem connected to the server, it is a bit difficult. Officially supported modems for HP servers are only
MultiTech modems. For the chance to dial from your server, change the devicefile for the modem to no CCITT.To setup the modem on the server you should do a cu -l /dev/cul0p2.
If you get connected, try an at. If the reply is 'ok', you should enter the correct setup strings for the modem. Then do an atdt nnnnnn
which should then start do dial from the server to another modem.
If you need more info, please let me know.

Re: Connecting US Robotics Modem
You said that you can connect but get only garbage on your screen. Did you already try to change your terminal type? Perhaps VT102 could be a good start.
