consequence and impact of run /sbin/init/hparray stop

Hi,

What is the consequence of stop the array and start the array? I need to clear the log file to release the disk space. However, I do not want to shutdown the server or affect any normal operation.

Hi,

The easy way to clear system log files is to goto sam -> Routine task -> system log file
select log file and trim

That will not do any harm to your system. You only lost software control (no ARMServer process) on the array between the stop and start period.

Agree...

There is no problem with stopping ARMServer. As stated above, you only loose software control. Which is regained when restarted.

Re: consequence and impact of run /sbin/init/hparray stop

It will stop the AutoRAID ARMServer and/or the
FC60 AM60Srvr whose only purpose is to allow you to configure the Arrays from the host.
Your data access will be fine, LVM switchovers will still work all access through /dev/dsk will be fine..
only thing stopped is config/error reporting and so on.
Note as a consequence SAM Disk and File Systems maintenance information of the disk systems will not work.
The Servers do need to be up and running to get this information.

The only time you need to shutdown your fs/vgs on these arrays is when
1> doing fw upgrades
2> powering off the array

Later,
Bill
It works for me (tm)
