Re: Considerations for setting up a Web Server
hi,
think you are looking for the prerequisites.
i could help you with some of them.
1) Web server
*** A Public IP Address
*** A good firewall / proper security enabled on your HP server
*** Apache or any kind of web server
*** Tomcat if you are going to use java servlets in the webpage
*** Hardware will depend upon the load you are going to put on this server
2) Database server
*** how big your database is???
*** which database you are going to run???
*** what type of applications you are going to use?? web based ???
It all depends on this
with best wishes
Naveej

Re: Considerations for setting up a Web Server
Here's some links for you to research.
Installing Apache, MySQL, and PHP on Linux:
http://www.hostlibrary.com/installing_apache_mysql_php_on_linux
Quick & Dirty Guide to Apache:
http://www.ypsolog.com/docs/comp/other/apache.html
For HP-UX,
http://docs.hp.com/cgi-bin/fsearch/framedisplay?top=/hpux/onlinedocs/5187-2783/5187-2783_top.html&con=/hpux/onlinedocs/5187-2783/00/01/114-con.html&toc=/hpux/onlinedocs/5187-2783/00/01/114-toc.html&searchterms=apache&queryid=20040527-063406
As far as a DB goes, if not Mysql, then you will have to get docs from whichever database you choose on how to setup.
Other things to think about - security -
http://docs.hp.com/cgi-bin/fsearch/framedisplay?top=/hpux/onlinedocs/5990-6737/5990-6737_top.html&con=/hpux/onlinedocs/5990-6737/00/00/98-con.html&toc=/hpux/onlinedocs/5990-6737/00/00/98-toc.html&searchterms=bastille&queryid=20040527-063651
