Convert ignite tape to ignite server image

Hi guys,

This is my first time posting in the HP-UX section, greetings to all.

A customer of ours provided some ignite tapes created with 'make_tape_recovery'. We would like to convert many of these tapes to network images to deploy from a centralized ignite server (due to some tape drive incompatibilities).

As far as I understand it, below is what we'd need to run with an ignite tape inserted in the first (and only) tape drive on the intended ignite server (minus the '-p' if everything checked out okay):

make_depots -p -v -s /dev/rmt/0mn -d depots_dir -r B.11.11

However, when we run the above, we get various errors depending on the nPars it is run from, some stating a corrupt or non-existent INDEX file or others just bombing with 'I/O Error'.

'check_tape_recovery' works, it displays all the system differences between the ignite tape and the currently running system.

Re: Convert ignite tape to ignite server image

make_depots will not work like this on make_tape_recovery tape.

make_depots only works on HPUX software depots/media.

I do not know of a tool that can do this conversion, but it should be possible to hack one up. Or, maybe contact HP support, see if they offer a service for this.
