converting old emails to outlook

I have a bunch of old messages on my HP-UX box which I'd like to convert to outlook so that I consolidate them with my current outlook account. Is there a procedure to do this? Thanks.

Re: converting old emails to outlook

Simplest but painful way is Cut+Paste and create new messages in Outlook.

Re: converting old emails to outlook

1. Start your outlook.
2. Go to file.
3. Click on "import and export" (basically you want to import the mails and messages).
4. Now you will have a dialogue box, check "Import Internet mail and addresses"
5. Now browse and give the directory from which you need to bring in your mails. (In this directory, you should have your mails directory of HP-UX mails copied).

Re: converting old emails to outlook

It depends where the account your Outlook client is accessing is, but if it's via IMAP, and the HP-UX box is also running IMAP and the messages concerned are in an IMAP account, you could point Outlook at both mailboxes and drag-and-drop the messages from one to the other.

Another option is that the HP-UX client you are using may allow re-sending of the messages (which would preserve the sender information etc. which forwarding doesn't do).

If you haven't done the transfer yet, tell us a bit more about a) where the messages are stored on HP-UX and which client you use there, and b) what type of mail account you are accessing with Outlook, and there might be more options.

Re: converting old emails to outlook

Dear DTXM,

Another approach would be to set up an IMAP
server on your HP-UX box. Assuming that Mozilla is able to read your emails (you didn't mention if they come from Netscape or from something else) then you could copy or
move the emails over to the IMAP server using Mozilla. After doing that, you could pick up those messages from the IMAP server using Outlook.

A bit of effort, but that way you could preserve the contents of the emails well, including dates, subject, to, cc, from information and attachments.

Kind regards, Christian

Another way - from HP-UX just forward them (with elm?) to your Outlook account.
