converting to trusted system and run-level

Should the system be in a specific run-level when converting to trusted ??

Or can the conversion be done in the default run-level 3

Re: converting to trusted system and run-level

There is nothing wrong with converting in run level 3. Pretty much all it does is extract your passwords and implement it's policies. You could drop to a lower level if you want to kick all the users out, but there really shouldn't be a need for that, and there are other ways to get users off a system and keep them off, if that is what you want to do...

Hope it helps

Its not required, you can convert the system to trusted at run level 3 also.

Re: converting to trusted system and run-level

It won't matter what run-level the system is in when the conversion is done, as long as / is mounted, as this is where the /tcb file structure gets created.

When the conversion is done, all passwords expire anyway, so even if user "fred" was logged in, (run level 3) the next time he logs in, his password will be asked to be changed in any case.
