I have an Ignite Tape cut and was considering booting and restoring from this tape...I am not sure
how exectly to do this
In the Past I have dd'd the image from primary Disk onto a new Dsik after booting from a CD.
Is there another alternative ..my current Disks are mirrored.
many thanks in advance..

Re: copy HD Image
There are several ways to do this:
1. make_recovery tape as you suggested with an interactive restore.
2. Mirror the 2 smaller drives to the one larger drive as suggested by Harry.
3. Add the 2 smaller drives to the volume group (vgextend) and then use pvmove to move the physical extents onto the 2 drives.
Actions 2 & 3 will require that you designate one of the 2 new drives as the primary boot drive using pvcreate -B, mkboot and lvlnboot commands when adding the drive.
Thanks for participating in the forums,
Martin

Re: copy HD Image
That is the only best was to do it ie dd. Incase you have raw partitons on the file system then you can only do a dd or mirror , however if you ahve proper filesystems then you can may be do a cpio or copy on tape and restore.

Re: copy HD Image
If you decide to mirror to the other disks, remember that 2 is the max mirror copies. So you'd have to mirror to one, then split it off & mirror to the other as you already have 1 mirror copy.
