Copying root disks for vpar installation

I am going to install vpars on an L3000 that is already running a non-vpar partition. I would like to copy my existing mirrored root disk to a new root disk for my second partition. Can I do this using dd or some other utility or do I need to use make recovery and build the new root disk from the recovery tape?

I am not sure if this is the correct way to accomplish your goal, but you can always install the vpar. Then run a makerecovery on the initialized partition and restore it on the second partition. Then you need to update the IP and server name on the second vpar.
