Re: core.dtsession file

Fernando,

Are you logging into the system via CDE or some other X server process? Or are you telnet/SSH'ing in?

Also when you say "you see this everytime you log in" do you mean you see the file being created in your home directory, or do you mean you get an error msg on the screen about it or something?

My understanding of core.dtsession is that it has to do with graphical login problems. Are you using PAM at all? I've seen some stuff in relation to PAM and dtsession core dumps...

Re: core.dtsession file

Hi Michael,

Am using CDE (Reflection X). The file is created at / directory. Actually am running a cron job everyday and i have no idea if it has something to do with it.
Do you mean to say that if the Reflection X terminates unexpectedly then a core.dtsession is created?
What is the content of the core.dtsession?
Is it safe to delete?

Re: core.dtsession file

Does the timestamp on the core.dtsession file reflect the time you logged in? Or is it always the same?

Trying to get an idea of if this is being recreated everytime or if it's just sitting there unchanged from some other problem.

Re: core.dtsession file

Check ~/.dt/errorlog for errors.
