-system error
-error:
check /etc/pam/conf file permission and ownerchip

-r--r--r-- 1 root /etc/pam/conf

and when we do

#ll /etc/pam/conf

we have this output:

-rwxrwxrwx 1 root /etc/pam/conf

the file has the full permission and the owner is root???!!!

What is really the problem , please help

pam.conf is owned by root and is apart of the sys group and permissions on the file is read only.

-r--r--r-- 1 root sys 1324 Nov 14 2000 pam.conf

Hi Omar

It might be that it is not strict enough. do a "chmod 444 /etc/pam/conf"

Re: Coulld'nt Login in with telnet

hi,

in /etc three pam related files are there

-r--r--r-- 1 root sys 1324 Nov 14 2000 pam.conf
-r--r--r-- 1 bin bin 3848 Jun 21 2002 pam.krb5
-r--r--r-- 1 root sys 600 Nov 14 2000 pam_user.conf

and its ownership and permission is as per above.as i kknow there is no pam directory inside /etc
