why not use gnu's tar? http://hpux.cs.utah.edu/hppd/hpux/Gnu/tar-1.15/

use the compress option (gzip)

Re: cpio and files > 2048 Mo

Hi,
You can do it by spliting the files in portions smaller than 2 GB and than cpio or tar to tape.

split [-b n[k|m]] [-a suffix_length] [file [name]]

For restoring the files you can use cat.

Use the GNU version. This also applies to tar, gzip, etc...

Re: cpio and files > 2048 Mo

Merci beaucoup,

Split is ok, and I'll try fbackup, if this tool allows copie of file > 2048 Mo, because the file, I must save have a size of 9985 Mo.

Thank's again.
